Four Eagles Named to  All-Region Team by AVCA

LEXINGTON, KY- Four members of the Juniata College women's volleyball team were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team, the organization announced this afternoon. Sophomore Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim), senior Amelia Kepler (Kane, Pa./Kane Area), and sophomore Kelly Reynolds (Upper Saint Clair, Upper Saint Clair) were all named to the first team. In addition, freshman Megan Moroney (Mentor, OH/Mentor) received Honorable Mention.

 

For Gearhart, Kepler, and Reynolds this is their second straight appearance on the All-Region Team. Reynolds was also last year’s Region Freshman of the Year.

 

Gearhart was named the Most Valuable Player of the Landmark Tournament last weekend and also the AVCA Player of the Week. She is third on the Eagles in kills with 230 and is averaging 2.58 per set. Defensively, her 53 total blocks are tied for second.

 

Kepler has been Landmark Player of the Year for the past two seasons. She is second on the Eagles in kills with 243 and averages 2.37 a set. She is tied with Gearhart in total blocks with 53.

 

Reynolds has been Juniata’s top setter for two years. This season, she is averaging 9.78 assists per set to lead the Landmark Conference.

 

Moroney has put together an impressive rookie campaign at Juniata. She finished the regular season with 2.26 kills per set and a .307 hitting percentage. Moroney’s 72 total blocks leads the team.
