LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a 2-1 weekend at the Emory National Invite, the Juniata College women's volleyball team ranks No. 9 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, the organization announced Tuesday. The Eagles are ninth for the second week in a row after falling 3-1 to No. 6 Emory and topping No. 15 Trinity (Tx.) and SUNY-Cortland.

"Being nine, I don't know that that means too much," said head coach Heather Pavlik. "We've played a tough schedule, we've had our ups and downs, and I think all of that will pay off during playoffs. This team has been tested. Not every team in the country has that luxury."

The Eagles earned the number one seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. Juniata will host the semifinal and final rounds Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9, in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. The Eagles will take on the winner of No. 3 Catholic University of America vs. No. 6 Goucher College, at 5:30 pm on Friday.

"We've played a tough schedule," added Pavlik. "They've probably won some that might have surprised some people and they might have lost one or so that may have surprised some people, but that par for the course. That's what it's going to be when you play a challenging schedule from the beginning of the season to the end. Every other week we had great stuff. They've learned how to be resilient and that might be the greatest quality you can have in a team going into playoffs. Inevitably, nothing ever goes like it's supposed to. Nothing ever goes as planned and this team is prepared for that."
