CLARION, Pa. – For the first time this season the No. 10 Juniata College women's volleyball team dropped back-to-back matches falling to NCAA Division II opponent Clarion University, 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 25-21). Senior Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and freshman Mar-Jana Phillips (Carson, Calif./Rolling Hills Preparatory) led Juniata with 10 and seven kills, respectively.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the first set, but Juniata fought hard and brought the game to within two points, 21-19, before Clarion went on a four point run to close out the first set win. The two teams battled close in the second set tying the game twelve different times. Juniata took the lead at 13-12, but Clarion came back and once again and scored the last four points for the set win.

Looking at a two set deficit, Juniata rebounded in the third set taking the lead from the first point and never surrendering. Midway through the set, theEagles took a 12-7 lead off a kill from Miller. Clarion came within five points of the Eagles, but Juniata closed out the set win to avoid the sweep.
