HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's volleyball team announced Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) has committed to joining the Eagles in 2013. Gearhart becomes the third member of head coach Heather Pavlik's 2013 recruiting class.
"Nakita is a great all-around player who performs every skill with equal efficiency," said Pavlik. "Her competitive fire and passion for the game will be a great addition to this team. Her exceptional net play should make an immediate impact in our gym."
A 5-11 middle hitter, Gearhart is a three-time Mid-Penn Conference, Capital Division Player of the Year; a two-time Public Opinion Volleyball Player of the Year; a four-time Capital Division first team selection; and a three-time Patriot News first team member.
The four-year letterwinner was also a three-time Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) District 3 AA All-State Team selection. According to Public Opinion, Gearhart finished her senior year with 170 kills, 32 aces, 52 blocks and 129 digs.
She plans to study biology and pre-med at Juniata.
