HUNTINGDON, Pa. – No. 23 Juniata (23-11) avoided an upset Saturday morning in the Landmark Conference women's volleyball semifinals by defeating Susquehanna University 3-1 (25-27, 25-12, 25-16, 25-11). The Eagles advance to the conference title match for the sixth time looking for their sixth consecutive league championship.
Junior Sarah McCarthy (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) earned a career-high 60 assists as five Eagles finished with double-digit kills.
Juniata was led by senior Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and junior Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch), who both finished with double-doubles. Fuller led all attackers with match-high 18 kills and picked up 17 digs to earn her third straight double-double, 13th of the year. Miller finished with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Other Eagles in double-digits for kills were junior Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane) with 14 and sophomore Amelia Kepler (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) and freshman Karley Christian (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel) who finished with 10 each.
Sophomore libero Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Helpfield Area) finished with a team-high 20 digs.
Juniata is 10-0 all-time in the Landmark Tournament and will face No. 2 seed Catholic tonight at 7 p.m.
