No. 21 Juniata Clinches Top Seed, Fuller Hits Milestone

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 21 Juniata College (18-8, 5-0 Landmark) clinched the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament Saturday night after sweeping Scranton University 3-0 and battling past Catholic University 3-2 at the second Landmark Conference Weekend of the season.  Senior Kelsey Fuller earned her 1,000th kill in the win over Catholic and now has over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.

"Anytime you can clinch the opportunity to host your tournament at the end of the year, that's a good thing," said Juniata Head Coach Heather Pavlik.  "I'm very proud of a team that has figured out how to win five-game matches."

Juniata has played in 11 five-game matches this season in all. Of the past six contests, five have been five-game matches.  Despite these battles, the Eagles have 18 wins this season, are still undefeated in league play and are on a four-game win streak with a postseason appearance penned into their calendar.

Fuller is one of the consistent performers on the Eagles.  She has played in 99 of the teams 104 sets and is second on the team in total kills (197) and digs (293), and third in service aces (27).  Fuller earned her 1,000th dig back on Sept. 29 in the Eagles 3-2 win over rival Susquehanna.

"With Kelsey reaching these milestones within a two week period of each other," started Pavlik, "I think that it really speaks to the consistency with which she has played the game over the last three and a half years.

More details on the matches to come.
