Women’s volleyball sinks Merchant Marine

TOWSON, Md. – Juniata women's volleyball continued its undefeated play at the Landmark Conference Round-Robin Weekend hosted by Goucher College on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Set scores for the match were 25-14, 25-5, and 25-17.

Juniata (14-6, 3-0 Landmark) held the Mariners to a -.066 hitting percentage while the Eagles swung at a .281 clip as a squad.

Juniata was led with seven kills from Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane), who committed just one error in her eight total attacks and hit at a .750 attack rate. Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was second on the team in terminations with five, while also serving-up four aces in the match.

Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Helpfield Area) also recorded four service aces against Merchant Marine (8-8, 0-2 Landmark) and sprawled for a team high nine digs.

The Eagles stopped two attack attempts with solo blocks; Alexandra Schmidt (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) and Karley Christian (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel) each recorded one. Lydick had four block assists as part of an eight-block assist performance by Juniata.

Juniata travels to Indiana (Pa.) for a Tuesday, October 2, match scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
