Fuller reaches 1,000 digs milestone during women’s volleyball Landmark wins

TOWSON, Md. – Juniata women's volleyball's senior Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) reached 1,000 digs of her career on Saturday, as Juniata earned its first two Landmark Conference wins of the season against Moravian College and Susquehanna University at the first round-robin league weekend hosted by Goucher College.

Fuller entered the day of competition with 986 digs in her career, and 13 against Moravian (13-4, 0-1 Landmark) brought her to within just one dig of the milestone. Fuller surpassed the marker with 10 digs against Susquehanna (7-12, 0-1 Landmark) to bring her career total up to 1,009.

Juniata (13-6, 2-0 Landmark) took down the Greyhounds in just three games, while the Susquehanna match took all five games. Set scores for the Moravian match were 26-24, 25-23 and 25-13. Set scores against Susquehanna were 18-25, 25-15, 15-25, 25-17, 15-7.

On the day, Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane) accumulated 16 kills, while Fuller added 14 in the Susquehanna match alone. Kristin Collins (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge) slammed down nine terminations against the Greyhounds and swung at an impressive .529 attack rate. Catherine Scholl (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) contributed eight kills versus the Crusaders and seven in the day's opening match against Moravian.

The day's first match proved to be Juniata's best blocking performance, as Lydick racked-up nine block assists and Amelia Kepler (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) added seven. Both Lydick and Kepler recorded two block assists each versus Susquehanna.

Rachelle Wiegand (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) served-up six total aces on the day, four of which coming against the Greyhounds, while Fuller tacked-on two aces in each match.

Libero Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Helpfield Area) sprawled for 16 digs against Susquehanna and recorded 11 against Moravian, while Wiegand led Juniata in digs versus the Crusaders with 18.

Juniata continues competition tomorrow in Towson, Md. against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 10:00 a.m.
