Juniata rebounds at Kenyon Invitational with two wins

GAMBIER, Ohio – No. 12 Juniata College women's volleyball rebounded on Saturday after yesterday's loss to Mount Union at the Kenyon Invitational in Ohio with a 3-0 win over Kenyon and a 3-2 victory over Transylvania. 

Set scores for the match versus Kenyon were 25-22, 25-17, and 25-11. Set scores for the match against Transylvania were 25-23, 25-19, 25-21, 25-17, 15-17, with Juniata (7-4) winning sets two, four and five. 

Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane) had a record day with a team-high 18 kills across the two matches and a total 18 block assists, 10 versus Transylvania, and 5 solo blocks in day two of the invite. 

Cat Scholl (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) recorded eight kills against the Lords and Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) added six. Against the Pioneers, Juniata's Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) recorded a team high 13 kills, Miller had 12 and Lydick pitched-in 10 terminations.

On defense, Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Helpfield Area) led the Eagles in digs with 27 against Transylvania and 12 versus Kenyon. Adena Delozier (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area) sprawled for 23 digs and Fuller recorded 20 against the Pioneers. 

Amelia Kepler (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) had seven block assists against the Lords and nine in the Transylvania victory. Karley Christian (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel) recorded a total 11 block assists throughout the day. 

Miller finished the day with three service aces as did Christian, while Young had a team-high four aces.

The Eagles return home on Tuesday, September 18, for a 7:00 p.m. match against Penn State Altoona. The match will also be Juniata's annual Dig Pink match in support of the Side Out Foundation.
