Mount Union pulls out 3-2 upset over Juniata

GAMBIER, Ohio – No. 12 Juniata College women's volleyball defeated No. 22 Mount Union College easily in game one but couldn't seal the win and fell 3-2 at the Kenyon Invitational on Friday evening.

Set scores for the match were 25-14, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15, and 15-8, with Juniata taking sets one and three.

Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and Cat Scholl (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) led the Juniata offense with Fuller recording 11 kills and Scholl adding 10 terminations. As a team, the Eagles hit at a .214 rate with 49 kills, 12 errors and 173 total attacks.

Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Helpfield Area) led in digs with 14, while also contributing a service ace. Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane) owned three of Juniata's five service aces against Mount Union.

The Raiders swung at a .317 attack rate, led by a 21-kill production by Taylor Webb and 15 terminations by Nicole Snyder.

The win over Juniata marks Mount Union's first win over a ranked opponent this season and the Raider's fourth straight victory as it marks Juniata's fourth consecutive loss.

Juniata continues play at the Kenyon Invitational in Gambier, Ohio tomorrow with matches against Kenyon and Transylvania.
