HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's volleyball team was honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award along with 89 other Division III institutions for its academic excellence during the 2011-12 academic year, announced Friday.

A record-breaking 533 teams from men's and women's Division I, II and III programs, as well as high school girl's and boy's squads earned the award for maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. 

From the Landmark Conference, the University of Scranton and Susquehanna University both join Juniata on the prestigious list, as all three institutions helped Division III record its highest-ever total number of award recipients.
