Morrison named to Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District squad

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College senior Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) was the lone Juniata selection to the Capital One Division III Women's Volleyball Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released Thursday.

This is Morrison's first selection to the Capital One Academic All-District squad, and she is the first Juniata student-athlete to earn the honor this season. Morrison's name will now go on the ballot for consideration for Academic All-America honors.

Morrison, a libero, currently averages 6.07 digs per set, with 631 total digs this season for the Eagles. She has also served up 34 aces, one off the team lead. Earlier this week, Morrison earned Landmark Conference Player of the Year and Specialist of the Year honors for the second consecutive year, and was a First team All-Landmark selection.

Morrison currently has 1,322 digs in her two seasons at Juniata since transferring from Santa Clara University, and ranks eighth among the program's all-time career digs leaders.

Juniata (25-7, 6-0 Landmark) captured its fifth straight Landmark Conference championship last Saturday, 31st consecutive conference crown overall, and will begin play on Friday in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Mid-Atlantic Regional.  The Eagles face Cabrini College (22-10) in the Regional quarterfinal 3:00 p.m., at the Neumann College Mirenda Center in Aston, Pa.

The Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District selections are voted upon by the CoSIDA members in each district. Nominees must have a minimum 3.30 GPA, and must have at least sophomore eligibility or have competed at their institution for one full calendar year. Juniata competes in a district with all other Division III institutions in Pennsylvania.
