Women’s volleyball places five on All-Landmark squads; Morrison repeats as Player of the Year

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women's volleyball was well represented on the 2011 All-Landmark Conference women's volleyball teams, as five players were named to the two teams including the league's Player of the Year.

Senior libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) repeated as the Landmark's Player of the Year and Specialist of the Year, in addition to earning a nod on the conference's First team.  Morrison tallied 631 digs, averaging 6.07 per set, and served up 34 aces.  She earned All-Tournament honors in every regular season tournament in which Juniata competed this season.

Joining Morrison on the First team All-Landmark squad was opposite Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion), middle hitter Ashley Schnader (Reinholds, Pa./Garden Spot), and setter Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers).

Schnader led the Eagles in hitting with a .309 attack percentage, second-best in the Landmark Conference, and averaged a team-high 2.52 kills per set. She logged 12 service aces and 24 blocks (0.43/set) this season, and logged five double-digit kill performances – including a season-high 15 kills at No. 12 Colorado College.

Fuller finished the Landmark Conference tournament with 182 kills, 2.33 per set, and turned up 207 digs for an average of 2.65 per set. She posted 10-or-more kills on nine occasions, and put away a season-high 15 kills against both California (Pa.) and No. 5 Heidelberg.

Greenberg was second in the Landmark in assists with 10.83 per set, and she was third on the team in aces (31) and digs (261). She hit a season-high 13 kills against No. 6 Christopher Newport, one of four double-digit kill performances on the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was the lone Juniata selection to the Second team All-Landmark squad.  Miller logged 158 kills, 2.48 per set, and recorded 14 service aces.

Juniata (25-7) captured the 2011 Landmark Conference championship on Saturday, the Eagles' 31st consecutive conference title, and will be making its 31st straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.  The Eagles will face Cabrini College (22-10) in Friday's quarterfinal match of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Neumann College in Aston, Pa.; a match start time has yet to be determined.
