Women’s volleyball’s Schmidt earns a second Landmark Player of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College's Amanda Schmidt (Boswell, Pa./North Star) has been named Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season, for the week ending November 6, 2011.

Schmidt, a senior middle hitter for the NCAA Championship tournament-bound Eagles, led Juniata to their 31st consecutive conference title. Schmidt totaled 26 kills on the weekend, averaging 3.71 kills per set, and added four blocks in the Eagle's two postseason wins.

During Juniata's Landmark semifinal match against Moravian College (22-12), Schmidt gave a flawless performance with 14 kills on 23 error-free swings, earning her a .609 attack percentage. Schmidt helped the Eagles soar to a smooth 3-0 win, contributing a team high 15 points.

In the championship match, Schmidt gave a repeat standout performance against Susquehanna University (19-19). Schmidt terminated 12 balls on 26 swings with two errors recording a .385 attack percentage, lifting Juniata to a 3-1 victory and the Landmark title.

Juniata (25-7) begins NCAA Championship tournament play at Neumann University this weekend in regional action against Cabrini College (22-10).
