HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women’s volleyball learned it will begin its 30th trip to the NCAA Championship by facing Cabrini College on Friday, Nov. 12, in the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Frostburg, Md.
Juniata (30-5) and Cabrini (23-7) will be meeting in the first round match for the second time in as many seasons, and will play in Friday’s 3:00 p.m. match at Frostburg State University’s Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center. Juniata received an automatic qualifier into the tournament as the Landmark Conference’s tournament champion, while Cabrini earned its berth with a second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament title.
Friday’s complete slate of matches begins at 12:30 p.m. with Ithaca College (22-14) facing Lebanon Valley College (23-9). Following the Juniata-Cabrini match, SUNY Cortland (33-7) will battle Case Western Reserve (24-10) at 5:30 p.m., with the host squad from Frostburg State (32-3) and Pitt-Bradford (24-3) battling at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday’s Regional semifinal matches will take place at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with Juniata potentially playing in the first semifinal. The Regional Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 4:00 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off wins over Moravian (3-0) and Susquehanna (3-0) in the Landmark Conference tournament, on their way to recording their 30th straight conference championship. Juniata posted a 17-1 record in neutral site matches this season, and logged a 6-4 record against opponents who were nationally-ranked at the time of the match.
