Juniata women’s volleyball announces incoming transfer student

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Libby Morrison, a 5-6 libero/defensive specialist from Portland, Ore., will join the Juniata College women's volleyball program this spring, after transferring to Juniata from Division I Santa Clara University.

Morrison will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, after competing for the Broncos in the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

"Libby Morrison will provide us with an immediate defensive and passing boost," said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. "She also brings offensive capabilities that can give us an added dimension at the net and in our back court. (Associate head coach) Heather (Pavlik) and I are anxious to see her begin practicing with our returning players later this spring, and we think she will have a splendid final two years of her collegiate career in the blue and gold of Juniata."

Morrison played in 103 of Santa Clara's 114 sets last season, and led the Broncos with 273 digs (2.65 per set). She also tallied 19 service aces for Santa Clara, second-most on the team. During her freshman campaign (2008), she logged 198 digs with 28 service aces.

She attended Oregon Episcopal School in Portland, where she was Female Athlete of the Year in 2008. Libby was a three-time Oregon state player of the year, and was named Qwest Player of the Game in the state championship match during her senior year. Morrison also competed in track and tennis at Oregon Episcopal, where she was the 2A state champion in the long jump in 2005, and the district high jump and long jump champion in both 2005 and 2008. On the tennis court, she helped Oregon Episcopal's undefeated tennis team win district and state titles in 2008, when her doubles team finished as state runner-up.

Morrison is the daughter of John and Lynne Morrison, and will be studying environmental science at Juniata College.
