JUNIATA’S RESERVES OUTLAST CATHOLIC IN 3-0 WIN

BALTIMORE, Md. – Juniata College head women's volleyball coach Larry Bock gave both his starters and his reserves a workout, as 15 players saw the floor in the top-ranked Eagles' 3-0 win over Catholic University, in a Landmark Conference match held at Goucher College in Baltimore, Md.

Game scores were 30-26, 30-23, and 30-21.

Junior Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) led the offense with 12 kills, with Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) adding 11 kills with a .579 attack percentage to the Juniata cause. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had 20 digs to pace Juniata defensively, while Molly Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Thomas each had 10 digs.

Junior Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) had 30 set assists, before having to leave the match after sustaining a head injury in an on-court collision with another Juniata player. Her status for Sunday's match against the University of Scranton remains uncertain.

"We really won't know anything until tomorrow," said Bock.

Freshman setter Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) replaced Kozak, and completed the night with 15 assists.

Catholic finished the match with a .230 attack percentage – the second-best attack percentage by a Juniata opponent this season, trailing only the .258 attack percentage recorded by Princeton University in last Sunday's match against the Tigers.

"Catholic served the ball real well," said Bock. "It was as good a conference match as we've had in a long time."

The Eagles (20-2, 5-0 Landmark) will complete Landmark Conference play on Sunday morning, when they face the Scranton Royals. A Juniata victory would wrap-up the Landmark regular season title, and would give Juniata the top-seed and right to host the Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Championship on November 2-3.
