Jim Taylor Invitational Concludes, Walters Takes Top Ten Finish

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- Day 2 of the Jim Taylor Invitational took place on Saturday, with both the men's and women's track and field teams competing during the day.

For the men, junior Zion Gomez (Chesapeake, Va. / Grassfield) placed 55th in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.13 seconds. Thomas Cope (Fogelsville, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) completed the 1500 Meters with a time of 5:01.88, earning 89th place. Cope also ran the 800 Meters, finishing 73rd with a time of 2:28.62. Freshman Ari Tendo (Ottawa, Canada / Beaconsfield (Quebec)) finished 29th in the 400 Meters with a time of 56.03 seconds. Tendo and Gomez would also both compete in the 200 Meters, with Tendo placing 40th at a time of 24.73 seconds, and Gomez in 58th with a final time of 25.54 seconds. Ellis Kline (Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis) was the last of the runners for the Eagle men, finishing 66th in the 5000 Meters with a time of 18:05.82. Barrett Walters (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) placed 15th in the Discus Throw with a mark of 34.96m. He also threw Javelin, earning an 8th place after throwing 50.03m. Brendan Nauman (Myerstown, Oa. / ELCO) also competed in the Javelin Throw, taking 12th place with his distance of 46.85m. Wyatt Ledeboer (Orefield, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh) was the sole male jumper of the day, placing 43rd in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.63m.

For the women, Nandee Correia (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) finished out her weekend with a 25th place in the Discus Throw, her best mark being 28.66m. Freshman Kaylyn Walters (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) competed in both the Long and Triple Jumps, placing 43rd in the Long Jump with a mark of 3.90m, before taking 27th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.27m. Turning to the track events, Rebecca Christophel (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon) placed 29th in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:07.35. Emily Vogt (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield Warde) rounded out the day for the Eagles, placing 21st in the 5000 Meters with a time of 19:43.46.

The teams will next compete in the Millersville Metrics Meet, which is split over two weekends. The men will compete on Saturday, April 2nd, before the women go the following weekend on Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th.
