Women's Track and Field Competes at Ship Mid-Week Invite

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Ship Mid-Week Invite hosted by Shippensburg University, Wednesday.

In the field, Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) claimed first place in the javelin marking 38.63m. In the long jump, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) placed 15th marking 4.86m. In the shot put, Orndorf placed 10th marking 10.03m while Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) placed 17th marking 8.22m. Davignon placed 21st in the discus marking 19.47m. In the hammer throw, Orndorf placed 14th marking 35.60m while Davignon placed 18th marking 26.77m. 

In the 800m, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) took third crossing the line at 2:22.59, Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS) finished 13th (2:29.93), Mellanie Barnes (Chicago, Ill. / Holy Trinity (Ill.)) finished 23rd (2:34.11), Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bridgeport Central HS) finished 28th (2:39.89), and Lydia Heishman (Keezletown, Pa. / Spotswood High) finished 37th (2:56.20). In the 3000m, Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) (11:19.32), Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) (11:21.59), Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) (11:33.40), and Alexis Barge (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick)(12:09.15) finished 12th, 13th, 15th, and 18th, respectively. 

In the 100m hurdles, Walshaw-Wertz placed sixth with a time of 16.63. In the 100m, Holly Caldwell (Milford, Conn. / Jonathan Law) finished 21st with a time of 14.64 and Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finished 22nd with a time of 14.66. In the 200m, Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) finished 10th (27.27) while Kelly finished 27th (31.49). Saraly Gonzalez (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling) placed 22nd in the 400m coming in with a time of 1:05.45. 

Juniata took second in the 4x100m relay finishing with a time of 54.63. The Eagles placed ninth in the 4x400m relay finishing with a time of 4:27.01. 

Juniata will compete in the Widener Invitational this weekend starting at 3:00PM, Friday.
