Eagles Earn Five First Place Finishes at Bobcat Invitational

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Frostburg State, Saturday.

In the 1500m, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) took first finishing with a time of 4:54.13 while Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) finished third (5:01.91), Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished fourth (5:29.86), and Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS) finished sixth (5:40.37). Alli Goulden (Wharton, N.J. / Morris Knolls) finished first in the 5000m coming in with a time of 21:24.45 and Alexis Barge (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) finished second coming in with a time of 22:02.49. Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) finished first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.24. The Eagles took first and third in the 4x400m relay. Saraly Gonzalez (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling) took first in the javelin marking 35.87m. 

In the 100m run, Walshaw-Wertz finished second with a time of 13.58 while Holly Caldwell (Milford, Conn. / Jonathan Law) finished 10th (14.81) and Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finished 11th (15.41). In the 200m run, Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) finished second with a time of 28.12, Caldwell finshed 11th with a time of 31.70, and Kelly finished 14th with a time of 32.53. Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) had a second place finish in the 400m run crossing the line at 1:04.17. 

In the 800m, Collado, Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS), Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg), Kalil, Mellanie Barnes (Chicago, Ill. / Holy Trinity (Ill.)), Stewart, Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bridgeport Central HS), Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin), Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS), Lydia Heishman (Keezletown, Pa. / Spotswood High), and Elese Christ (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove High) finished second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 15th, and 16th, respectively. 

In the field, Walshaw-Wertz placed second in the triple jump marking 10.00m. In the shot put, Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) placed third marking 10.43m while Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) placed eighth marking 8.23m. In the discus, Orndorf added a second place marking 34.31 and Davignon placed eight marking 23.43m. In the hammer, Orndorf placed fifth marking 32.33m and Davignon placed sixth marking 26.43m. 

Juniata will compete in the Messiah Invitational on April 13th.
