Women's Track and Field Competes at Highlander Invitational, Orndorf Breaks JC Weight Throw Record

HOUGHTON, N.Y.- The Juniata women's track & field team started off the new year at the Highlander Invitational, Friday evening.

Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) broke her previous record in the weight throw that she set last season at Landmark Championships. Orndorf's previous record was 12.67m. Ordnorf placed third in the weight throw marking 13.31m. 

In the weight throw as well, Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) placed 26th, marking 8.70m. In the shot put, Orndorf placed 10th, marking 9.77m while Davignon placed 21st, marking 8.60m. Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) placed 33rd in the long jump, marking 4.52m. 

On the running side of things, Saraly Gonzalez (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling) was the Eagles top finisher. Gonzalez placed 10th in the 300m dash clocking in at 46.78, while Elese Christ (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove High) finished 15th. Holly Caldwell (Milford, Conn. / Jonathan Law) finished 19th with a time of 9.19 in the 60m dash and Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finshed 23rd coming in with a time of 9.82. In the 200m dash, Walshaw-Wertz finished 16th (30.32), Caldwell finished 21st (32.09), and Kelly finished 24th (34.61). 

In the 600m run, Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS) finished 16th coming in with a time of 1:51.33, Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) finished 17th with a time of 1:51.96, and Christ finished 26th with a time of 2:26.41. Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished 21st in the 800m run while Alli Goulden (Wharton, N.J. / Morris Knolls) finished 28th. In the mile run, Echard finished 30th clocking in at 6:07.26 and Goulden finished 34th coming in with a time of 6:24.11. In the 60m hurdles, Walshaw-Wertz placed 15th coming in with a time of 10.35. The team of Gonzalez, Freimuth, Alexander, and Caitlyn Gasmen (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) placed 12th in the 4x400m relay. 

The Eagles return to the track, January 25th for the Bison Open & Multi held at Bucknell.
