Women's Track & Field Competes in Widener Invite

CHESTER, Pa.- The Juniata women's track and field team finished 13th in the Widener Invitational, Friday and Saturday.

Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) led the Eagles with a third place finish in the 10000m race, clocking in at 39:24.41. In the 15000m, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) finished sixth with a time of 4:42.94, Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished 40th crossing the line at 5:19.80, and Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS) finished 58th with a time of 5:35.51. 

In the 100m, Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finished 78th finishing with a time of 15.14 and in the 200m Kelly finished 92nd with a time of 32.45. In the 400m, Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) came in 26th with a time of 1:01.97 while Corey Atkinson (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro HS) came in 64th with a time of 1:08.64. In the 800m, Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg), Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield), Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS), Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bridgeport Central HS), and Lydia Heishman (Keezletown, Pa. / Spotswood High) finished 32nd (2:27.09), 45th (2:30.04), 71st (2:40.31), 76th (2:43.29), and 88th (2:50.51) respectively. 

In the 100m hurdles, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) placed 25th (15.53). The quartet of Walshaw-Wertz, Freimuth, Atkinson, and Nichols finished in 13th in the 4x100m relay. The team of Stewart, Nichols, Alexander, and Freimuth took fifth in the 4x400m relay. 

In the field, Orndorf took second (38.03m) in javelin while Suzy Badorf-England (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg High School) placed 17th (29.01), and Kelly Leamer (Altoona, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis H.S.) placed 26th (25.69m). In the long jump, Walshaw-Wertz took 19th place marking 4.78m. Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) placed 26th in the shot put throwing 9.73m. In the discus, Orndorf placed 11th (34.47m) while teammate Kaitlyn Young (Mount Ephraim, N.J. / Audubon) placed 29th (28.66m). Young placed 24th in the hammer throw, throwing 32.59m.
