SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata women's track & field team competed at the Ship Mid-Week Invitational, Wednesday.
Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) was the top finisher for the Eagles, taking first in the 3000m run while Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) took second with a time of 11:18.99. In the 100m dash, Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finished 25th with a time of 15.49. Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice), Corey Atkinson (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro HS), and Kelly finished 18th (28.02), 32nd (31.09), and 37th (32.88) respectively in the 200m dash. In the 800m run, Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS) placed ninth recording a time of 2:41.80 while Lydia Heishman (Keezletown, Pa. / Spotswood High) placed 16th with a time of 2:51.51. Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) took third in the 1500m run with a time of 5:13.72 and Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) took sixth with a time of 5:29.21.
In the 100m hurdles, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) placed ninth coming in with a time of 16.88. The team of Nichols, Atkinson, Alexander, and Heishman took eighth in the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Walshaw-Wertz, Freimuth, Atkinson, and Nichols placed third in the 4x100m relay.
In the triple jump, Walshaw-Wertz placed ninth marking 9.96m. Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) placed 11th in the shot put throwing 9.46m. In the discus, Orndorf placed 15th throwing 27.78m while Kaitlyn Young (Mount Ephraim, N.J. / Audubon) placed 16th throwing 26.45m. In the hammer throw, Orndorf took 15th throwing 34.10m and Young took 21st throwing 29.87m. In the javelin throw, Suzy Badorf-England (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg High School) placed ninth marking 29.95m and Young placed 12th marking 25.28m.
