Women's Track and Field Competes at Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday at the Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium, home to Susquehanna University.

Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass./Meuthen HS) and Yanibel Collado (Freeport, NY/Forest Hills) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5000m run with times of 18:05.45 and 18:07.00. Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) took third in the 10000m (43:25.58) while Allyson Kopera (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) finished with a time of 12:21.72 in the 3000m steeplechase to place second.

In the 100m hurdles, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa./Line Mountain) placed fourth with a 16.40 finish. Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) had a sixth-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:26.52 while Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn./Central HS) placed 16th in the race.

Julia Freimuth (York, Pa./Cedar Cliff) ran a time of 1:07.22 in the 400m hurdles to place 17th. In the 200m dash, Faith Nichols (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) placed sixteenth (27.63) while Maya Browning (Fairview) followed in twenty-ninth place.

In the field, Walshaw-Wertz placed seventh in the long jump with a distance of 4.63m and sixth in the triple jump (9.86m). Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa./Penns Valley) took sixth in discus, throwing 32.39m and had a seventh-place finish in javelin, reaching 40.18m. Kaitlyn Young (Mount Ephraim, NJ/Audubon) placed ninth in discus (28.69m) while Kelly Leamer (Altoona, Pa./Bellwood) finished in thirteenth. Orndorf and Young also placed twelfth and fifteenth in the hammer throw.

The Eagles compete in the Frostburg Invitational next Saturday.
