Women's Track & Field Tabbed Fifth in Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata women's outdoor track & field team was selected fifth in this year's Landmark Conference preseason poll.

Juniata finished four points behind Catholic, while Susquehanna is third with 35 points and Elizabethtown is second with 50 points and one first place vote. Moravian sits at the top with 60 points and six first place votes. 

Last outdoor season, the Eagles took sixth place at the Landmark Championship meet and they hope to improve on their results from last year. Junior, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Forest Hills) was the top finisher for the Eagles placing second in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:11.90. Collado also finished fourth in the 1,500 meter race finishing with a time of 4:48.03. In the 3,000 meter, Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) took fifth place with a time of 12:01.70. Also freshman standout, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) from the indoor season will be competing in the hurldes. 

On the field side of things, junior Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) placed fourth in the javelin while Suzy Badorf-England (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg High School) took seventh place. 

The Eagles will compete in their first outdoor meet of the season on March 24th as they will host the Juniata Invitational.
