Juniata's women and men indoor track and field competed in the Bison Open at Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 28.
WOMEN'S EVENTS:
Julia Freimuth (York, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Faith Nichols (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) placed 55th and 57th, respectively, out of 60 competitors in the 400-meter dash. Freimuth recorded a time of 1:08.06. Nichols was right behind her with a time of 1:08.37. The first-place finisher completed the dash at 59.09.
Claudia Sacks (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) finished 20th in the 800-meter run, beating out 25 runners. She marked a time of 2:28.24. Sacks went on to place seventh in the next event, the 1000-meter run. The freshman was two seconds behind Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y./Forest Hills), who finished sixth with a time of 3:14.08.
Collado then placed 22nd out of 54 in the one-mile run with her time of 5:33.24.
MEN'S EVENTS:
Ryan Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius), Andrew Meci (Woodstock, N.Y./Onteora) and Vinnie Caroselli (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey) competed in the 800-meter run for Juniata. Bogdan was the first of the Eagles to cross the finish line, marking a time of 2:04.08 and landing at 26th overall. Meci placed 32rd with his time of 2:05.08.
In the next event, Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) placed eighth in the 1000-meter run. Sokirniy recorded a final time of 2:39.91.
Storm Fridinger's (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) 1.84-meter high jump landed him at 13th in the event.
Out of 29 qualifiers, Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) placed 15th with his 13.85-meter weight throw.
Juniata is heading to the S.U. Challenge at Susquehanna on Friday, Feb. 3.
