Sellers Caps Off Decorated Career at NCAA Championships

WAVERLY, IA –  Before Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) even stepped foot on the runway at Walston-Hoover Stadium for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she had already accomplished so much.

She shattered the all-time record at Juniata in the triple jump with a leap of 11.96m at the Mideast Invitational. That same leap punched her ticket to Iowa and ranked her eighth in the country in the event.

Just before the Mideast Invitational, Sellers collected a major conference award and received two All-Conference selections from the Landmark. She was named Landmark Field Athlete of the Year, was picked to the First Team in the triple jump and Second Team in the long jump.

All this accomplished before even taking a leap in Iowa. As she stood on the runway, she stood representing the entire Juniata College campus community. She stood representing Huntingdon Area, the very home of Juniata. The hometown star had already made so many proud before even taking a step.

Sellers recorded a mark of 10.78m and finished 20th overall in the triple jump.

Bria Halama from Wisconson-La Crosse won the event with a leap of 12.86m.
