Three Eagles Receive Track & Field All-Landmark Honors

TOWSON, Md. – Three Juniata track and field athletes claimed spots among the Landmark Conference's top athletes in the 2016 Outdoor All-Conference Selection.

Senior Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) led the Eagles with two All-Conference selections and Field Athlete of the Year recognition. She was named to the First Team All-Landmark in the triple jump and Second Team in the long jump.

Sellers visited the podium four times at the Outdoor Championships. She won the triple jump with a mark of 11.32 meters, crushing her previous personal record and recording the second best mark in Juniata history. Sellers took second place in the long jump with a distance of 4.96 meters.  She finished eighth in the 200-meter dash and helped Juniata's 4x100-meter relay team to a fourth place finish.

Joining Sellers from the women's team is fellow senior Erin Gaines (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport). Gaines was named to the Second Team All-Landmark in the 400-meter hurdles. She finished second in the event with a time of 1:09.86.

Gaines also made it to the podium four times at Landmarks. She finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles, was a part of the fourth place 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Storm Fridinger (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) led the men's team, nearly knocking off Moravian's Kahron Walker for the top spot in the high jump. Fridinger placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters, earning him a spot on the Second Team All-Landmark. The performance landed Fridinger in the Juniata record books with the third best mark in JC history.

Fridinger proved to be a force for the Eagles on the track and in the field, as he recorded three other podium finishes at the Landmark Championship. He helped the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to fourth place finishes and finished fifth in the 400-meter dash.
