Sellers Leads Women’s Track and Field At Landmark Championships

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Eagles came in fourth in the Landmark Championships held at Oller Track on Sunday. Senior Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) was the top finisher for the team in day two of the competition. 

 

In the triple jump, Sellers came in first with a personal record of 11.32m. The jump moved her to second in the Juniata record books. Junior Katy Leamer (Altoona, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) was third with her personal record of 10.35m. Junior Katie Fisher (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) placed fourth in the high jump event clearing a height of 1.52m

 

Freshman Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa./Penns Valley) reached a distance of 36.10m in the javelin event, putting her in fourth place.

 

Sellers ran eighth in the 200m final with a time of 27 seconds. In the 800m, senior Jecenia Duran (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) finished with a time of 2:22.72 that was good for sixth place. Freshman Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y./Forest Hills) followed behind in ninth.

 

Senior Erin Gaines (Hagerstown, Pa./Williamsport) came in second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.86. Gaines also contributed to the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. She was joined by Caitlyn Gasmen (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Faith Nichols (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Alderdice), and Sellers in the 4x100 to place fourth with a time of 52.27. Gaines also joined forces with Nichols, Duran, and Allyson Kopera (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) in the 4x400 to finish fourth with a time of 4:10.63.

 

Following the day's events, Sellers was named the Landmark Outdoor Track and Field Female Field Athlete of the Year.
