Women's Track and Field Compete at Jim Taylor Invite

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday. 

Senior Erin Gaines (Hagerstown, MD / Williamsport) placed 18th in the 100m hurdles, running a time of 18.25 and 17th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.84.  Gaines combined efforts with Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area), Chelsea Chizmar (Johnstown, Pa. / Forest Hills), and Jecenia Duran (Temple, Pa. / Olley Valley) in the 4x400m, placing 12th with a time of 4:20.86. 

Duran finished the 1500m with a time of 5:23.5 in 35th place.  Chizmar placed 23rd in the 800m with a time of 3:36.47 and was followed in 31st place by freshman Allison Goulden (Wharton, NJ / Morris Krolls). 

In the field events, senior Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, NY / Bloomfield) placed 19th in the hammer throw, reaching a distance of 34.16. Christen Cooper (Chester, NJ / West Morris Central) finished just behind in 23rd place with a throw measuring 32.22m. 

Kylie Orndorf  (Milheim, Pa. / Penn Valley) placed 25th in the shot put event with a throw of 9.61m. Rhodes finished 27th in the event, reaching a distance of 9.30m. In javelin, Orndorf led the Eagles in 14th place with a throw measuring 33.99m. She was followed by Rhodes in 21st place with a throw of 27.94 and Kaitlyn Young (Mount Ephraim, NJ / Audubon) and Kelly Leamer (Altoona, Pa. / Bellwood) in 25th and 26th place, respectively.

Sellers rounded out the field events in the long jump with a jump of 4.38m, placing 22nd

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, April 2, at the Frostburg Invitational.
