Women's Track and Field Takes Sixth at Landmarks

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Juniata women's track and field team wrapped up their indoor season with a sixth place finish at the Landmark Conference Championships Saturday.

Freshman Christen Cooper (Chester, NJ / West Morris Central) threw a distance of 12.30m in the weight throw, placing 7th and gaining the top spot in the Juniata record books for the event. Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa.) finished 6th in the shot put event, reaching a distance of 10.36m and inching her way into 5th in the Juniata records.

Junior Katie Fisher (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) placed 4th in the high jump event, clearing a height of 1.52m. Fisher also placed 7th in the long jump with a distance of 4.50m Senior Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) was just behind in 10th place, with a distance of 4.35m. Sellers also placed 8th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.53m and 7th in the 200m race, finishing with a time of 28.11. 

Allyson Kopera (Hastings, PA / Northern Cambria), Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield), Jecenia Duran (Temple, PA / Olley Valley), and Yanibel Collado (Freeport, NY / Forest Hills)teamed up to finish 2nd in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:04.31, gaining a 2nd place position in the Juniata record books. Collado also finished 9th in the 800m race with Kopera right behind in 10th place.

Stewart, Duran, Chelsea Chizmar (Johnstown, PA / Forest Hills), Faith Nichols (Pittsburgh, PA / Taylor Allderdice) finished 4th in the 4x400m with a time of 4:23.80.

The team begins their outdoor season at home on March 19.
