Eagles Record Two Second Place Finishes at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, PA  - The Juniata women's outdoor track and field team earned two second place finishes at the Shippensburg Invitational Wednesday. The Invitational featured three Division-II schools, the host team, Shippensburg, Millersville and West Chester, as well as Juniata and Dickinson College. 

Allyson Kopera (Hastings, PA / Northern Cambria) took second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:57.51. Vanessa Hurst (Ephrata, PA / Ephrata) placed sixth at 12:04.43.

The other second place finish came from Katelyn Fisher (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) in the high jump. Fisher recorded a leap of 1.58 meters.

Four athletes placed in the 200-meter dash for Juniata.

Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, PA / Huntingdon Area) lead the Eagles in seventh place at 27.12 seconds. Bailey Swogger (Bellwood / Bellwood-Antis) followed in tenth, Lauren Lock (Huntingdon, PA / Juniata) in 11th and Britney Bridges (Plattsburgh, NY / Peru) in 13th.

Kaitlyn Cosby (Frederick, MD / Frederick) placed seventh in the 100-meter dash at 13.81.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Erin Gaines (Hagerstown, MD / Williamsport High School) finished sixth at 18.04 seconds.

Juniata's next meet is a two-day event at Widener University April 17-18.
