SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The rain didn't keep the Juniata College women's track & field team from posting nine top-five finishes at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday.

Senior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) placed first in the 5000 meter run in a new program record time of 17:35.56, nearly two minutes in front of the second place finisher. This time broke Woods' record that she set at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet last season by over twenty seconds.

Also in the 5000 meters, junior Courtney Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) took home fifth in 19:40.34. In the 200 meter dash, senior Paula Pryor (Westbrookville, N.Y./Burke Catholic) captured third place in 27.30.

In the 4x400 meter relay, junior Caitlyn Pingatore (Windber, Pa./Windber), Pryor, freshman Chelsea Chizmar (Johnstown, Pa./Forest Hills), and senior Evelyn Edwards (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale) placed fourth overall in 4:19.01.

In the field, freshman Katelyn Fisher (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) placed third in the high jump at a height of 1.47 meters. Junior Kylie Berrena (Petersburg, Pa./Juniata Valley) finished third in the javelin throw with a throw of 31.78 meters. Junior Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) came in fourth in the hammer throw at 33.34 meters. Beaver also placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 9.68 meters. Sophomore Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) came in fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.83 meters.

The women next compete at the Frostburg Invitational on Saturday, April 5.
