Woods Sets 3000m Landmark Indoor Record at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) set a new Landmark Conference Indoor record at Bucknell University's 19th Annual Winter Classic Saturday.  She finished the 3000m in a personal best 10:23.90 to crush the previous Landmark record of 10:31.7 by nearly eight seconds.  Woods finished seventh in the event.

"It was a good meet," said track and field head coach Jon Cutright.  "There's great competition.  That's why we go."

Sophomore Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) also had a great performance on the day.  She set a personal record (PR) in the weight throw (11.72m) and missed her shot put PR by just two centimeters (11.06m).

On the men's side, junior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) ran a personal best of his own in the 3000m.  He finished in 9:02.64, beating his previous record by over 17 seconds.  Senior Ryan Trexler (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) ran his second fastest indoor 800m at the meet, clocking in at 2:01.11.

Juniata heads back to Susquehanna for the third time this season on Friday, Feb. 15.  They will compete in the Susquehanna Open.  This is their last meet before Landmark Indoor Championship where last year the men finished fourth and the women placed fifth.
