Andrews Tabbed to Lead Women's Tennis

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott D. Andrews '14, G'16 as the 13th head coach of the women's tennis program.

"We are very excited to have Scott lead our women's tennis program moving forward," says Athletics Director and Head Men's Basketball coach Greg Curley. "His background as a successful two-sport student-athlete at Juniata, combined with his passion for athletics and his ties with the local tennis community, uniquely qualify him for this opportunity.  We look forward to the continued growth of our tennis program and remain committed to providing a first-class student-athlete experience that prioritizes academic success while improving our competitiveness within the Landmark Conference."

Coach Andrews returns to Juniata after having spent the past three years as a staff accountant for the Altoona Area School District. He is no stranger to Juniata, having graduated after playing two years of tennis at Juniata, as well as four years of football as the team's kicker. He competed in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments during his tennis career and has remained active in the local tennis league, where he has worked with some of the best tennis players in the region.

"There are two main reasons I am excited to take over the head women's tennis coaching position," said coach Andrews. "The first is I want to give back to Juniata, and not just monetarily. I wouldn't be where I am today without JC and the education I received. I also have a wonderful group of friends and memories, thanks to Juniata, that I wouldn't trade for the world."

"The second is, I am very competitive. I currently participate in a number of different sports, but tennis was my first, having picked up a racquet at three years old. Taking over the program will be a new challenge, and another avenue to be competitive."

Andrews earned his Bachelors in Economics and his Masters of Accounting at Juniata. He also is currently a semi-professional football player for the Westmoreland Wolves.
