Michaud Added as Head Tennis Coach

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata College Athletics Department is thrilled to announce the hiring of Kenneth Michaud as head tennis coach. He brings over seven years of coaching experience to Juniata. 

"We are very excited about Kenneth's addition to our coaching staff and the future of our tennis program," said Athletics Director & Head Men's Basketball coach Greg Curley. "He has been successful coaching both men and women at all levels of tennis.  He separated himself during our search through his enthusiasm for this opportunity, his passion for coaching, his commitment to developing true student-athletes, and his experience in building winning teams."

Coach Michaud spent the past three years coaching boys tennis at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Rancho, Michaud posted at 33-17 overall record and won the league for the first time in 17 seasons and was named Class 4A league Coach of the Year. Michaud was also a finalist for Las Vegas Sun Standout Awards for Coach of the Year. Previous to Rancho High School, he was a head coach of both the men's and the women's programs at Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. While there, both programs were ranked in the 25th in the NJCAA. He had two women's players that were ranked in the top 50 and one women's doubles team that was ranked 33rd in the nation. Prior to that, Michaud was an assistant at Mesa Community College. That season, the team finished with a season record of 16-0. The team was NJCAA Region One champions and finished 10that the NJCAA Division I national championships.  

 "I want to thank Coach Curley, Scott McKenzie, and Juniata College for giving me this opportunity," said Michaud. "I am extremely honored to lead the tennis program and work with an exceptional group of student-athletes. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and the future of this program."

Michaud played tennis at Reedley Community College before transferring to Graceland University (Iowa) and finishing out his career. While at Graceland, the team was ranked nationally in the NAIA. They were ranked in the top-25 both seasons and his junior year they won the Heart of America conference tournament and advanced to the NAIA national tournament. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at Graceland and a minor in psychology.
