Women's Tennis Edges Out Susquehanna 5-4

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Juniata women's tennis team defeated Susquehanna 5-4 in conference competition.

Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) defeated their opponents in first doubles by a score of 8-4. At second doubles, Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Savannah Bailey (Rockville, Md.Richard Montgomery) won 8-4. Kelley Appow (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) and Souyma Polavarapu (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) dropped their match in third doubles 4-8.

In first singles, Lucas swept past her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Yurchisin fell 0-6, 6-4, 2-6 in the second spot, and Cordier beat out her competitor by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Bailey and Polavarapu lost in fourth and sixth singles, by Appow came out on top in her match in the fifth spot 6-4, 6-1.

The Eagles play at home on Friday, April 28, at 2:30pm against Goucher.
