Women’s Tennis Defeated by Elizabethtown in Landmark Play

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata fell to Elizabethtown College 7-2 on Sunday, bringing the team's record to 2-4 for the season.

The Eagles dropped all three of their doubles matches for the day. Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) fought a hard battle in first doubles, ultimately losing 9-7. Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Savannah Bailey (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) also dropped their match 8-6.

In singles play, Lucas defeated Taylor Helsel in a super tiebreaker. In the second spot, Yurchisin fell to Madison McCall 6-4, 6-1. Cordier took the only other win in singles against Lenea Riehl 6-1, 6-4. Bailey, Kelley Appow (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township), and Devin Ryman (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) all lost their matches.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, April 15, against Goucher at 1:00 PM.
