Women’s Tennis Falls to Moravian in Home Opener

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team played its first match of the 2017 season on Saturday afternoon against Moravian. The Greyhounds defeated the Eagles by the score of 7-2.

 

Juniata took one match in doubles play. At first doubles, the pair of Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) were victors over Kate Rennar and Emily Snyder 8-3.

 

The lone win for the Eagles in the singles portion occurred in the final match of the day at fourth flight. Savannah Bailey (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) outlasted Lauren Steinert in a super tiebreaker 7-6, 1-6, 11-9.

 

The women return to the Raffensberger-Brumbaugh Courts tomorrow afternoon when they host Elizabethtown. Start time is 1:00 p.m.
