Lucas Named Landmark Women’s Tennis Rookie and Player of the Year

TOWSON, Pa.- Freshman Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) has earned top honors from the Landmark Conference in women's tennis. Lucas was named the Landmark Rookie and Player of the Year on Wednesday along with being named to the First Team. She is the first player in Juniata women's tennis history to earn both accolades in the Landmark and the first player to do so in the conference since 2009.

Lucas posted a 13-7 overall record on the year for the Eagles and was undefeated in Landmark play with a 7-0 mark. After dropping five matches during the Eagles' Florida trip in March, Lucas proceeded to win all but one match for the rest of the season. Her one loss during the streak was in three set super tie-breaker in a non-conference match against Franklin and Marshall.

Lucas' 13 wins were the most among all other players at first singles. She won her last four matches including two in the Landmark Tournament as the Eagles reached the championship for the first time in program history.
