Women’s Tennis Defeats Catholic 6-3

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Juniata women's tennis team won its fifth Landmark match of the season as the Eagles defeated Catholic 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. JC improves its overall record to 10-7.

 

Juniata won two of three matches in doubles play. Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York) and Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) won 8-1 at second doubles as did Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area) and Nora Tsai (New Taipei City, Taiwan) at third doubles. Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio./Padua Franciscan) and Katherine Conklin (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) were edged out at first doubles by Laura Tosello and Sarah MacLean 9-8.

 

Lucas won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles over Tosello to remain undefeated in conference play. Tsai won her fifth straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at third singles against MacLean. Vienna Cordier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) won her team-high 12th match of the season as she held off Erin Cole 6-1, 6-4 at sixth flight.

 

Juniata travels to Scranton for a critical Landmark match with the Royals tomorrow afternoon. Start time will be at 1:00 p.m.
