Women’s Tennis Edged Out by E-Town 5-4

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team faced off with Elizabethtown in a battle two undefeated teams in Landmark play on Friday afternoon. It was a close and hard fought battle but the Eagles were felled by the Blue Jays by the score of 5-4.

 

In doubles play, the lone JC win went to Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Nora Tsai (New Taipei City, Taiwan) who easily handled Meghan Chemidlin and Laura Gribble 8-0 at third doubles. Tori Gray (York, Pa/Central York) and Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) dropped a close decision to Lauren Berry and Sam Procak 9-8 at second dubs.

 

Tsai was the first one to complete her match as she won 6-2, 6-2 over Berry at third singles. Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) lost 7-5, 6-2 to Taylor Heisel at second singles. Lucas got past Madison McCall at first singles 6-2, 7-6 to even the match at 3-3. With three matches to play, the Blue Jays took two to pull out the victory. Gray had the other win for Juniata as she was a winner at sixth singles 6-4, 6-4 over Gribble.

 

The Eagles return to play tomorrow afternoon as they host Drew at Raffensberger Court. Match time is at 1:00 p.m.
