Women’s Tennis Defeats Susquehanna 7-2

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team remained undefeated in Landmark play as they defeated Susquehanna 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Raffensberger Courts. The Eagles' overall record improves to 8-5 and they are 3-0 in the Landmark.

 

Juniata swept through doubles competition. Nora Tsai (New Taipei City, Taiwan) and Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) improved to 4-0 as a pair as they won 8-1 against Linsey Sipple and Eliza Griffin at second doubles. Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and Katharine Conklin (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) were 8-2 winners at first doubles while Sam Hendricks (McVeytown, Pa./Mifflin County) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had an 8-0 victory at third doubles.

 

In singles play, Lucas won her fifth match in a row with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Alyssa Fleischman. Hendricks won 6-2, 6-3 at fourth singles to move to 8-2 on the season. Cordier improved to 8-3 overall as she knocked off Allison Lobell 6-1, 6-1. Yurchisin had a tough battle with Sipple at second singles. Yurchisin won the first set 6-1 but was edged out by Sipple 7-6 in set two. The match went to a super tiebreaker where Sipple came out on top 10-7.

 

The Eagles travel to Elizabethtown this Friday for their next match. Start time is at 2:00 p.m.
