Women’s Tennis Handles Goucher

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata women's tennis team played Goucher in a rare Sunday afternoon match. The Eagles had no problem with the Gophers as they won 8-1.

 

The win improves Juniata's record to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark. Goucher drops to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

 

The Eagles won all three matches in doubles play. At second doubles, Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Nora Tsai (New Taipei City, Taiwan) paired up for just the third time this season and the duo won 8-2 over Mackenzie Donohue and Miranda Egan-Brooks. Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) were partners for the first time and won 8-2 over Ali Tomasevich and Meera Balasubramanian by the score of 8-1.

 

Lucas won her fourth match in a row at first singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Kirsten Cianci and improved her overall record to 6-6. Gray moved to 7-2 overall as she defeated Tomasevich 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles. Cordier was a winner at fifth singles as she was victorious against Donohue 6-2, 6-0.

 

Juniata will host Susquehanna this Wednesday at Raffensberger Court. Match time will be at 4:00 p.m.
