Women’s Tennis Defeats Gettysburg 6-3

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team hosted its first match of the season on Friday afternoon at Raffensberger Courts. The Eagles defeated Gettysburg 6-3 to improve their record to 5-4 overall.

 

JC claimed wins at both second and third doubles. Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Nora Tsai (New Taipei City, Taiwan) won at second dubs 8-5 over Gillian Minnerly and Mary Cecio. Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) and Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York) were victors against Jean Van Buren and Ally Flood by the score of 8-3.

 

Lucas needed three sets to decide her match at first singles but was able to defeat Maria Martinovic 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Tsai won her first collegiate match with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Minnerly. Katharine Conklin (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) and Koh were also winners on the afternoon.

 

Juniata plays Ursinus in Collegeville tomorrow afternoon. Start time will be at 3 p.m.
