Women’s Tennis Defeats Wittenberg 7-2

HAINES CITY, Fla.- After playing a match the night before, the Juniata women's tennis team played an early morning match with Wittenberg. The Eagles were victorious as they defeated the Tigers 7-2.

 

The Eagles won two of three in doubles play. Katharine Conklin (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) and Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) teamed up at first doubles and won 8-3 over Alyson Dust and Sarah Frisch. Sam Hendricks (McVeytown, Pa./Mifflin County) and Vienna Cordier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) were victors at third doubles against the pair of Nora Jacobson and Haley Jackson.

 

Juniata won second through sixth singles. Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York) easily won her match against Jessica Harting 6-0, 6-0. Cordier defeated Jacobson 6-4 in the first set and swept the second set 6-0.  Other winners included Yurchisin at second flight, Conklin at third flight, and Hendricks at third flight.

 

JC is off tomorrow and will wrap up its Spring Trip on Friday against Colorado College. Match time is at 3:00 p.m.
