ORLANDO, Fla.- The Juniata women's tennis team started its week of matches in Florida with two on Monday. The Eagles defeated King's College in the morning 8-1 and lost to Ohio Wesleyan 7-2 in the afternoon.
Against the Monarchs, the Eagles swept in doubles play. In singles, the only loss was by Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) at first flight 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
The Battling Bishops won all three doubles matches against the Eagles. The two JC wins came in the fifth and sixth slots. Sam Hendricks (McVeytown, Pa./Mifflin County) won at fifth flight over Keisha Cummings 6-2, 6-1. Vienna Cordier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had a tough match with Diamond Person at sixth singles. Person won the first set 6-2 but Cordier responded with the same score in the second set. Cordier cruised in the tiebreaker 10-3.
Juniata will play Lake Forest College Tuesday night. Match time is at 7 p.m.
