Yurchisin Named Landmark Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, MD- The Landmark Conference announced the winners of its weekly awards on Monday. Sophomore women’s tennis player Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH/Padua Fransiscan) was tabbed as the Athlete of the Week.

 

Yurchisin went 3-2 in both singles and doubles play during Juniata's spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week. She had straight-set wins over Baldwin Wallace and Nazareth at the No. 2 singles spot, and moved up to No. 1 during a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) comeback triumph over Olivet. Yurchisin teamed with Heather Waring (San Antonio, RX/John Jay) for doubles victories over Nazareth, Olivet and Stockton. The Eagles completed their trip with a 3-2 team record.

 

The Eagles are 5-3 overall and being Landmark play this weekend. Juniata hosts Catholic on Saturday and follow up with Elizabethtown on Sunday. Match times will be at 1 p.m. at the Raffensberger Tennis Courts.
