Women's Tennis Wins ECAC Title, Koh Named Most Outstanding Player

HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata women's tennis team was crowned ECAC Champions Sunday afternoon after defeating fellow Landmark Conference team, Drew University, 5-0 on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts.

Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, CA / Monta Vista) was recognized as the Most Outstanding Player for her 4-0 performance in singles play. Koh defeated Megan Jarvis 6-1, 6-1 to earn the match point for the Eagles. She won 6-1, 6-0 over FDU-Florham's Jill Duke on Saturday.

Koh and Samantha Hendricks (McVeytown, PA / Mifflin County) were first to finish in doubles play, with a quick 8-1 win over Drew. Katharine Conklin (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Township) and Cara Stough (Friendsville, MD / Northern Garrett) followed with an 8-6 win. Heather Waring (San Antonio, TX / John Jay) and Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) kept their cool and went on to win 9-7. 

After going up 3-0 after doubles play, Juniata needed just two points to take the title.

Conklin was the first to finish and defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-1. Koh finished shortly after Conklin for the match point.

Yurchisin was defeating her opponent 6-0, 4-3, Hendricks 6-2, 4-1, and Stough 6-0, 5-0 when the match was concluded. Waring had lost the first set 3-6 but was in the lead in the second at 3-2.

The women's tennis team finished the season with a 14-6 record, earning the most wins during a single season in program history.
