HUNTINGDON, PA – In the inaugural ECAC women's tennis championships, the Juniata women's tennis team claimed a spot in Sunday's championship with a 5-0 victory over FDU-Florham in Saturday's semifinal round on the Raffensperger Courts.

The Eagles received the top seed and were designated as the hosts for ECAC's after finishing the regular season with a 12-6 record.

Juniata had to rearrange their lineup due to a few athletes feeling under-the-weather.

Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) and Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, CA / Monta Vista) joined forces for the No. 1 doubles, Katharine Conklin (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Township) and Cara Stough (Friendsville, MD / Northern Garrett) took No. 2 and Emma Sebastian (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper St. Clair) and Samantha Hendricks (McVeytown, PA / Mifflin County) took No. 3.

Juniata took all three doubles with efficiency, finishing 8-1 (No.1), 8-2 (No.2) and 8-3 (No.3).

Despite not feeling well, Stough played through the doubles match. Devin Ryman (Kingston, PA / Wyoming Valley West) came in to relieve her during singles play. Yurchisin played at No. 1, Conklin No. 2, Koh No.3, Hendricks No.4, Sebastian No.5 and Ryman No.6.

Koh and Yurchisin jumped ahead early in singles to go up one set against the Devils. Koh was next to finish (6-1,6-0) and Yurchisin would give the Eagles match point (6-0,6-2).

Conklin had won her first set , as did Sebastian and Ryman. Hendricks was in the lead 4-3 over Remy Astorino before the match was called.

Juniata faces the winner of Drew and Misericordia Sunday, May 10 at noon for the ECAC Championship title.
